So, I’ve been gone again for a while…I’m not sure I’m ready to open up about why just yet, but if and when I’m ready, you all will be the first to know. On a lighter note, I figured it was time (or way past time) to share photos of the engagement party I threw for my best friend and her lovely hubs. A local BBQ place in Houston catered the event, and we rented a lot of the glassware, tables, chairs and linens – it makes things so much easier! I arranged the flowers myself using different fall foliage available at Fannin Flowers – an amazing market in Houston. I highly recommend it if you enjoy arranging your own flowers for parties/events.
Instead of a traditional guest book, we asked guests to write a note to the happy couple, fold it up and place it in an apothecary jar that we gifted them at the end of the night.
For the sweets table, I wanted the focal point to be a delicate, but still glamorous, cake in the bride’s favorite flavor – red velvet. The glittery gold flower was (literally) the icing on the cake! Black/white cookies, cake balls, petit fors, lemon bars and raspberry squares were also available for guests who were craving something different!
Oh how I love those balloons…but they would NOT stay facing the front. When hosting a party or managing an event, something is bound to go awry. Part of the fun is learning how to laugh about it and just let it go! Or just take funny pictures with the awkward balloons…either way.
After the party, we all went to a country dance hall and two-stepped the night away. It was the perfect ending to a perfect night!
