“Whew – what a rush!” That’s how I always feel after February ends. Between family and friend’s birthdays, American Heart Month, the Red Dress Collection fashion show, Valentine’s Day and National Wear Red Day, I’m not sure I could pack one.more.thing. into this crazy month.
This February started on a not-so-great note. Friday, February 1 was National Wear Red Day – one of the most important days for my organization. Normally a celebratory day in honor of women’s heart health, this National Wear Red Day, my grandmother passed away. So my first few days this month were spent with close family members in Pittsburgh remembering a tiny, remarkable and sassy Polish woman.
Immediately afterwards, I caught the redeye flight to NYC to join my team for our largest event of the year – the Red Dress Collection 2019 fashion show. We’ve been working on this event for months, and a production of this size requires an incredible amount of (wo)manpower. It was by far the most amazing show we’ve produced, and all the blood sweat and tears (lots and lots of tears) were worth it in the end. Plus I was able to spend the week/weekend after in NYC with my momma for some quality bonding time. It was just what the doctor ordered after the long and emotional start to the month.
